How to get here

Tofinho and Tofo are located along the cost of Inhambane province, in Southern Mozambique. The distance from the capital, Maputo, is less than 500 km, which is about 6 hours drive or a 50 minute flight.

By PLANE: The closest international airports with flights to Inhambane are Maputo in the south, Beira in the north, Harare in Zimbabwe and Johannesburg in South Africa (LAM www.lam.co.mz, Air Travelmax www.travelnetafrica.com and Pelican Air www.pelicanair.co.za). Inhambane airport is located 25 km from Tofinho and Tofo. It's about 20 minute drive private taxi (about 350 Mts) or 45 minute by local transport from the main road (15 Mts + a baggage fee for big luggage).

BY YOUR CAR: from Maputo take EN1 to the North and follow for Inhambane. From Inhambane to Tofinho/Tofo are 25 Km more.

BY BUS: Local buses (macimbombo) run daily from Maputo to Inhambane, leaving at 5.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. It takes about 7-8 hours and leaves from Junta, the Maputo bus stop. You can catch this bus also at 5.00 a.m. from Fatimas or The Base backpackers (approximately 450 Mts).Alternatively, you can take any bus going to Maxixe and than cross the sea by boat to reach Inhambane.

LOCAL BUSES: minibus (chapas) runs several times a day from Inhambane central market to Tofo and vice versa. The journey takes about 45 minutes and costs about 15 Mts + baggage fees for large bags.
